April 5, 2017
As nature busies itself for spring, so do we for the last trimester of this school year.
We have very a lot to accomplish during the months ahead and I would like to share some of the events that our Greene Generals will be engaged in from now until the last day of school, which is June 22!
Several Greene students will be attending a Paw Sox game on April 13. Go Greene! Go Sox!
Our 4th and 5th graders have been working with the RI School of Design (RISD) museum to extend art to students around the state. As a Thank You for their participation in a research project, they will be visiting the RISD museum. 5th graders are going on April 27 and the 4th grade trip still needs to be scheduled.
2nd graders will be visiting the Pawtucket Library on April 28. Thank you Mrs. Perron for hosting this visit.
State testing for Literacy and Mathematics (PARCC) begins May 2 for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders. Parents of students being tested will receive additional information as the dates approach.
State Science testing for 4th graders will take place on May 9. 10 and 11.
The PTO is hosting a spring dinner dance on Friday, May 5 at Shea high school. More information will be forthcoming.
We continue to prepare for our move out of Greene at the end of this school year and the move to the Greene Annex later in the summer. It will be hard to leave “our home” for a year but we are excited about returning to a remodeled Greene for the 2018-2019 school year.
If you were not able to attend the Public Hearings concerning our move and you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to answer questions and/or to direct you towards a person who can.
This is the last year for 6th graders at Greene. 6th grade graduation will be held on June 20 at 12:30 p.m. Greene will also host a ceremony for our 5th graders who will be moving to middle school for 2017-2018. More information to follow.
As always, Nathanael Greene continues to be a great place to grow, where every student is somebody. They were good somebodies when they came and will be better somebodies when they leave. Greene Generals are strong and powerful and deserve the education that they get here. They have things to do, places to go and people to impress!
